I am back from Spain but I was sick for the past few days probably because of the spring weather. And I spent my entire weekend under the sheets. Pff. I badly need some sunshine and the beach, bikinis and Ray-Ban.

Ray-Ban sunglasses have been a
staple in fashion for many years. Its
great success, has led to the growth of many fakes, imitations and replicas.
Just like with many expensive accessories, counterfeit Ray-Ban sunglasses
are a common black-market item sold at a discounted price under the guise of
being the real thing. Counterfeit Ray-Ban sunglasses vary in quality; some will
be obviously fake, but it can be difficult to distinguish between a well-made
pair of counterfeit Ray-Ban's and an authentic pair!
You can call me little miss sunshine, and this is my little Ray-Ban collection.
To start off, here's a quick info, in 1999, the Italian group Luxottica bought Bausch & Lomb. Since then, Ray-Ban is no longer manufactured in the USA, but in Italy (except a few models that are made in China, such as Ray-Ban Jr). If any part of the sunglasses, or anywhere else in the kit contains the inscription "Bausch & Lomb" or "B & L" then you can be sure you're holding a replica in your hands, unless it was manufactured before 1999.

HOW TO SPOT FAKE AND AUTHENTIC RAY-BAN SUNGLASSES?
The box of Ray-Ban sunglasses. All authentic Ray-Ban come in a box with a sticker attached indicating 1. model eg "RB3428" the 2. submodel eg
"W3234", followed by the 3. lens type code (eg 3N) and 4. Lenses'
width in millimeters (eg 54). This should match the information recorded on the
bridge and arms painted.
The Ray-Ban sunglasses case. Since fakes and counterfeits do a good job copying this aspect, be really picky when inspecting it, and look for quality. There should also be a distribution seal printed in the case, which will say something like: "100% UV Protection - Ray-Ban - Sunglasses By Luxottica".
The Ray-Ban booklet. The "mini" booklet should be printed on high quality paper and be free of grammatical, spelling and typographical errors.
The model number. This can be found on the inside part of the glasses that rests on the temples, look for both RB and the right model numbers (check model numbers off the Ray ban website).
The rubber on the ear and nose pieces. Ray-Ban only uses the highest quality rubber on their products, and therefore the rubber on the glasses should be flexible but durable and not feel slippery, slimy, fragile or like it could easily be removed.
The Ray-Ban logo and the "RB". The Ray-Ban logo must be cleanly printed on right corner of the lens. This "RB" logo is engraved on the left side of the lens in pristine quality. Fake Ray Ban sunglasses often have the logo painted onto the side of the sunglasses, though recently, those who make knock-off Ray Bans have begun to try to imitate the engraved RB. Pay careful attention to the quality of the etching; sloppy engraving will likely be a sign of a fake pair of sunglasses.
Always consider what you're paying for, if it seems too good to be true, then your sunglasses are probably not Ray-Ban's but a fake one. Purchase from reliable, Ray-Ban stores or trusted retailers in the mall, or other similar reputable places. And as what I have said on my previous post, sunglasses are more than just a fashion statement - they are a necessary protection for your eyes. The eye protection is the major consideration when investing in sunglasses, and probably the fit and the style comes next.
